Friday 06/12/09 - End of 1st Week on Live $ Acct

I have to run some errands so will update this post later this evening. The hesitation problem is slowly going away; I guess I should have expected some hesitation since this was my first week back on the Real $ account. I'm ending the week down about $250 after commissions. I placed 24 trades this morning, and was down $185 on NQ at one point; made it all back and then some on a couple of solid trades that I held for 5-6 pts each. Holding on to winners is also a big problem for me, and it looks like I'm making some progress in that area as well.

  1. You rebounded your week and have started making profits live. The hardest part is over and it gets easier from here on out.

Great job man. Hopefully it won't be too long before your back live again!

  2. believe you are on your way there. You already realize that the nervous factor is not allowing you to trade freely.
I am not an expert but I try to limit my trades at 1 or 2 a day. Go for 2 points a day , by doing so, I set my goals lower and build confidence, I also avoid to make my broker richer than he is :).
Have a great weekend and look forward for your next week adventures :)

  3. One time I left an open position in my sim account for 2 months without knowing, came back and was up 5k.

Why can't I do that kind of stuff with my real account? lol

btw, good job on the green. You have the know-how, now you just have to practice the mechanics. :D

  4. Thx guys! I think I'm going to try to trade the PM sessions over my lunch break. Even if I don't make much money, at least it will keep my (trading) mind sharp and keep me in the game.

  6. Hey
I am no expert but my best trading days are the ones where I make no more than 3 to 4 trades, I think 24 is overtrading.

  7. Tavi, agreed. 24 is def. over-trading but my goal was to get comfortable entering Live trades in real-time since I was hesitating too much earlier in the week. Putting on 24 trades certainly helped in that area..a positive P&L was bonus :)

  8. EMP,

You realized that SIM is much easier than the real one. Some traders didn't.
